The Sydney Science Festival – part of the broader National Science Week – is all about showcasing Sydney’s diverse and multidisciplinary science and innovation community. It’s no surprise then that Macquarie staff feature throughout the Festival program, with the University’s experts helping bring science to life for Sydney’s young and old.

Women in Physics lecture: The Most Powerful Lasers in the World

Experience an audio-olfactory installation harnessing synergies between sound and aromas and hear from Macquarie’s Anina Rich who explains the neuroscience behind multi-sensory perception and synaesthesia.

Living Laboratory at the Royal Botanic Garden
Sydney Botanical Gardens

Visit hands-on science adventure stations throughout the Gardens. Meet scientists, botanical illustrators and horticulturalists and find out about the amazing work they do.

The Indigenous Science Experience Family Fun Day
Redfern Community Centre
Sunday 19 August, 10am – 3pm
Yarn with Aboriginal Elders on bush foods and medicines, make Aboriginal tools and jewellery, take part in hands-on science shows led by Indigenous youth, solve maths puzzles, try out 3D printing plus enjoy many other science and technology activities.
