Are you considering applying for academic promotion? We will be hosting two information sessions in March to provide an overview of the Academic Promotion scheme and application process. All academic staff who are considering applying for promotion in 2023 are encouraged to attend.

Information session for Heads of Departments, Associate Deans, Deputy Deans and Committee members

We are hosting an information session on the promotion scheme process for all Heads of Departments (HODs), Associate Deans and Deputy Deans whose role it is to guide and mentor colleagues applying for promotion. Committee members are also encouraged to attend.

Key dates

Applications for promotion for all levels are due for submission to HR (academicpromotions@mq.edu.au) by Thursday 1 June 2023.

Academic staff thinking of applying for promotion are encouraged to consult with their Head of Department in advance and note the following key dates:

As soon as possible and before Friday 31 March 2023 Applicants seeking exemption from the standard rules (for example, applying prior to reaching two years of service) need to formally apply for exemption as per Clause Part H – Exemptions of the Academic Promotion Procedure
Monday 3 April 2023 Applications submitted to Heads of Department (HOD) for review. Preparation of HOD reports commences.
Monday 1 May 2023 HOD reports and applications submitted to Executive Deans for review and sign off.
Thursday 25 May 2023 Executive Deans return signed HOD report to applicant.
Thursday 1 June 2023 Application due date. Submit completed application by email to academicpromotions@mq.edu.au
September – November 2023 Applicant interviews
Monday 1 January 2024 Promotion effective date

Notes

If you are applying for academic promotion, you are required to have an ORCID iD and an up-to-date Pure and Scopus Researcher Profile linked to your ORCID iD. You must include your ORCID iD URL on your application form. To learn more about setting up and linking your ORCID iD, follow the step-by-step instructions on the Research Impact Metrics page.
