iwona-erickson_wp_1410x743

Iwona (pronounced ‘I-vona’ – it’s Polish) Erickson has been Group Marketing’s Digital Marketing Manager for four years.

Having broken into the education sector with stints working for British boarding schools and Ivy League preparation programs, she now powers the digital marketing engine of Macquarie’s domestic recruitment function. In this role Iwona reviews hundreds of ads across platforms like Facebook, Google and TikTok, and analyses and develops multichannel media plans that would make most people go cross-eyed.

1. Something you feel proud of
The Digital Team, which I’m proud to be part of, has consistently exceeded the annual lead goal of 33,000 leads in the last four years.

2. A person you admire at Macquarie, and why
I admire strong and wise female leaders and we’re lucky to have quite a number of them at Macquarie.

3. What you need to do your best work
I do my best work when I’m surrounded by people who share a similar work ethic, enthusiasm and values. I see a lot of magic happening in beautiful collaborations between individuals.

4. Something people usually ask you when they find out what you do for a living
They usually ask me if I work for Google.

5. A favourite photo from your camera roll
Peru 2013 – My husband James and I reached Machu Picchu after a four-day Inca Trail trek. It’s a reminder of adventurous years.

6. Your definition of success
In my opinion there’s no objective definition of success. We all have our own internal measure of success and this definition changes throughout our lives. At this stage of my life, having a young family, I feel a sense of pride and fulfilment when I do well at work and in my parenting role.

7. A website or app you can’t live without
In the evening I love scrolling through my Instagram and Pinterest feeds for craft inspiration. One of my hobbies is crocheting, and I’m always on the lookout for new projects to add to my ever-growing to-do list.

8. Where you live and what you like about living there
I’m originally from Poland and I must admit that I never liked cold, dark and long winters. I was lucky to meet my Aussie husband during my uni years as an international student in Sweden. After almost a decade of living in two very interesting British cities (Brighton and Cambridge), we moved to my husband’s hometown Sydney. The Sydney climate suits me most, maybe apart from the La Niña years.

9. Something you’re trying to do differently in 2022
Trying to be more mindful to notice and appreciate the small, everyday good things in life.

10. I’m happiest when…
I’ve had a deep and enriching conversation.
