Help protect our community: Book your COVID-19 vaccination

With New South Wales projected to reach its 70 per cent vaccinated target on 11 October (and the 80 per cent target by the end of October) we can soon look forward to enjoying many of the activities that we have been missing.

The University’s COVID Taskforce continues to meet regularly to assess the latest government advice and plan for the safe return of staff and students to campus and the resumption of face-to-face teaching.  Any updates regarding plans for our return to campus will be shared via MQ Announcements.

The safety of our community remains central to these plans. It is therefore important that our staff and students are vaccinated so we can minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission, particularly to vulnerable members of our community.

Book a vaccination appointment – Pfizer appointments available this week

Both Astra Zeneca and Pfizer vaccines are available at the Macquarie University Clinic. Pfizer bookings can be made via this link for Macquarie staff and students only.  Appointments are available this week.

Vaccines (including the newly available Moderna vaccine) are also available at locations throughout Greater Sydney. Find a location near you using the Government’s Vaccine Clinic Finder. Vaccination information is available in more than 50 community languages.

Residents of Greater Sydney are permitted to leave their Local Government Area in order to obtain a COVID-19 vaccination.

Provisions for staff getting vaccinated

one-off payment of $50 is available to all casual staff who have performed work for the University since 1 June this year (including those employed by MQ Health and U@MQ) and who receive both doses of the vaccine. The University is pleased to have approved more than 800 payments to date.

Continuing and fixed term staff are permitted to book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment during their normal working hours, or book sick leave for these appointments.
