Take part in HuskeeSwap for $2 coffee all day, Monday to Friday

Macquarie is partnering with sustainable coffee cup manufacturer Huskee to support staff and students in reducing their single-use disposable coffee cup use.

The University will be hosting a ‘HuskeeSwap’ event at participating outlets in February and March. Be part of the HuskeeSwap and you’ll get a whole lot more than just a caffeine pick-me-up.

Just follow these three easy steps:

  1. Purchase any size cup for $12.50, if you don’t already have one.
  2. Drop your dirty HuskeeSwap cup at participating outlets to be commercially cleaned and collect another clean Huskee cup of any size.
  3. Use your Huskee cup to get $2 COFFEE ALL DAY from Monday to Friday during HuskeeSwap Week at that outlet.

Take part in the HuskeeSwap at these campus outlets:

Piccolo Lane – Monday 24 February to Friday 28 February
Crunch – Monday 2 March to Friday 6 March
Macquarie Business School Café and Staff Café – Monday 9 March to Friday 13 March

Visit the food and drink page for outlet locations and opening hours.

  1. Why are the outlets only participating for one week each? Having the location swap each week doesn’t encourage people to use this cup. I’m not walking to the other side of campus to go to Crunch, especially in the pouring rain just for a $2 cup of coffee. It takes wat to much time out of my research to do that multiple times a day. I’m all for helping to reduce waste by using reusable cups but making it a hassle to use the Huskee cup means that people are just going to grab a disposable cup from the closest coffee shop for convenience. In theory, the Huskee swap is a great idea but if it’s only at select locations and only for a limited time its overall a bust. If you had every cafe on campus or a select few that always do the Swap with $2 coffee then I think more people would use the system but as it stands Huskee swap is too much trouble and ultimately a limited run program. I’d rather spend the $5 it takes to get a coffee mug from Kmart and use that but since I won’t always remember to bring that to campus then it’s back to the throwaway cups. Great idea in theory but poorly executed and an overall fail.

    1. Hi Emily,

Thanks for your comment. The recently introduced HuskeeSwap is a permanent sustainability initiative at our Campus Life outlets. The $2 HuskeeSwap coffee is an introductory promotional offer to engage and inform the campus community about a much more environmentally friendly reusable cup made from recycled coffee husk along with the convenience of being able to swap your dirty cup for a clean cup at our outlets.

The $2 promotional offer is scheduled to run across Campus Life outlets on a rotational basis over the next 4 months so that everyone on campus gets the opportunity to have a $2 coffee. Outside of the $2 offer anyone with a HuskeeSwap cup is entitled to a 30 cent discount and coffee loyalty rewards using the coffee loyalty card available at each outlet.

      Participating Outlets are:

      Library Café
      Crunch Cafe
      Globe
      Piccolo Lane
      Staff Cafe
      MBS Cafe
      Wally’s Coffee Cart
      Ubar
