Central Courtyard Precinct hoarding

As we draw closer to commencement of works on the Central Courtyard redevelopment project, the University is pleased to announce the appointment of FDC as principal contractor.

In preparation to build this landmark project, which will include on-campus student accommodation, exciting new retail, food and beverage outlets (including the iconic UBar) plus a new graduation hall and much more; there will be logistical changes needed to allow smooth access for the contractor’s team and construction vehicles throughout the construction period.

Temporary fencing has been installed to contain site offices and other buildings that will service the project. This will be replaced in coming weeks with sturdier site hoarding.

Footpath closed

Access to the footpath between the Lighthouse Theatre and the Chancellery/Science Road areas has closed for the duration of the project.

All footpath users, including cyclists, will need to use alternative routes when moving about campus.

We’re at the early stages of this exciting project and staff and students will be kept up to date via regular notices in This Week, on the Campus Facebook page and on the project website.

  1. Dear Property Team,

are there any more news regarding the Central Courtyard project? I could not find any new information on the website so far since last time I checked.

    Hannes

    1. Hi Hannes

There is plenty going on with this project however nothing to report as a new article. If there is a specific question you need answered, please let us know and we’ll do our best to answer it. In response to your previous comment, we referred to the Architect as award-winning, not the design for Central Courtyard “Designed by award-winning design studio Architectus,” Plans will be available on the project website in coming weeks so stay tuned. Thanks again for your interest in this project.

  2. Good to see the project moving forward! Where can the floor plans for the award-winning design be looked at? Any idea about the water efficiency labelling and energy rating of the buildings or whether they were smart enough to include the possibility to use reusable dished etc. in the food court and clean them on side (wash plant?) to reduce plastic waste like in other universities?

    1. Hi Hannes, thanks for your interest in the Central Courtyard project, more information, including the answers to some of your queries, will be available on the project website in coming weeks.

  3. The project website offers a link to alternative routes while walking around campus, but the link is locked and gives a message that I am not authorised to access this asset.

    1. Hi Susan, oops! will fix that and thanks for pointing it out – the image is exactly the same as what’s above in the THIS WEEK article.
