Professor Mark Baker is among Macquarie staff who have been recognised in the last month.

Congratulations to our new Fellows

  • Professor Enrico Coiera (Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences) has been elected as one of the 37 new Fellows of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.
  • Professor Judith Dawes and Professor Richard Mildren (both Department of Physics and Astronomy) are among 98 new members of the Optical Society’s 2019 Fellows Class. 

Times Higher Ed ranks Macquarie subjects among world’s best

The 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) rankings by subject have placed multiple Macquarie subject areas among the best in the world:

  • Top 100 for Education
  • Top 150 for Law
  • Top 150 for Arts and Humanities
  • Top 150 for Life Sciences
  • Top 200 for Psychology

Geodesy genius

Juan Carlos Afonso, Head of the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, has been awarded with the 2019 Outstanding Early Career Researcher Award from the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics. The award – one of the most prestigious in the field – is given every four years for outstanding research in Earth and space sciences and for international research cooperation.

Professor Mark Baker to lead major international gene-mapping project

Following an international search, the Human Proteome Organization has recently selected cancer researcher Professor Mark Baker from the Department of Biomedical Sciences as the incoming Chair of the Human Proteome Project.

Time to re-name the Incubator the Awardsinator?

The Incubator has added yet another trophy to its (plywood) shelf, picking up a National Award for Educational Architecture from the Australian Institute of Architects.
