The Macquarie University Incubator has been awarded the internationally-renowned Green Good Design award in the research and technology category for 2018.

The Good Green Design Awards are presented by The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, who have joined forces to present the Green Good Design program.

Designed by Architectus and officially launched in September 2017 by HRH Prince Andrew The Duke of York, The Incubator is a space designed to nurture, equip and accommodate budding entrepreneurs as they grow a business idea or social venture into a successful start-up.

Located on the west side of campus, The Incubator building features innovative design elements including adaptive ventilation and solar panels to minimise energy usage, while maintaining a comfortable work environment regardless of the season.

“We are delighted The Incubator has been given this award. It is fitting that a building so innovative in design also houses an ideas space where people can meet, mentor, and network with a cross-section of fellow innovative thinkers,” said John Shi-Nash, Director of The Incubator.

  1. Right you are Manuel. We’ve edited to add mention of the design firm. Thanks for the feedback!

  2. I hope the article mentioned the name(s) of the architect(s) who designed the building because, after all, the honour and the recognition belongs to him, her or them (if it was a team). For instance, articles that praise the design of the iconic Sydney Opera House would usually mention Jørn Utzon.
