Sustainability’s M-Power: Change one trip per week

m-power-feature

Macquarie Sustainability is encouraging people to seek alternative transport as part of their new Change one trip per week campaign.

As an incentive, those who join the campaign have the chance to win an electric folding bike*.

Studies show it’s good for your brain to do something different. So, why not challenge your synapses by taking a different form of transport or a different route home.

For example, if you drive every day challenge yourself to take an active form of transport, such as riding or walking – even just for part of the way. Imagine the health benefits from jumping off the bus one stop earlier!

And by carpooling, riding your bike or changing to public transport on just one day per week, you’re actually helping to ease congestion on the roads.

Incentives for change

  • Co-Hop is Connect Macquarie Park’s new transport planning and ride-share matching tool that rewards you and your buddies as you commute.
Free for Macquarie University staff and students, you can use the system to find alternative routes to campus and even match with bike buddies or find or start a carpool.
  • At Macquarie, car-poolers can get access to eleven priority parking spots on campus.
Car-pooling parking permits are available to those who drive to campus in a vehicle with two or more people. The permit allows you to park in priority carpooling locations on campus.
