With so many great initiatives and partnerships coming out of the sporting facilities at Macquarie University, it’s no wonder we are catching the media’s attention.

Water safety and confidence focus for Macquarie University holiday program

The Macquarie University Swim School’s commitment to increasing water safety awareness and confidence was recently profiled in news.com.au.

The article details how in 2015, 26 children drowned as a result of poor swimming skills and lack of proper parental supervision.

“As well as learning proper supervision techniques, it is vital that parents get their children in the water and learning not only how to swim, but how to be confident and safe in the water,” the article states.

“To help encourage parents to get their children enrolled in swimming lessons, Macquarie University’s Sport and Aquatic Centre is offering a special school holidays swim school program throughout January which focuses on building water confidence and safety.”
