With the end of the year approaching, and to assist with staff and leave planning, the following information should be noted:
• This year, the University will be closed from Saturday 24 December and will re-open on Tuesday 3 January. The University’s three concessional days will be 28-30 December. Staff are not required to apply for leave during this close down period.
• Next year, Australia Day falls on Thursday 26 January.
• In 2017, Good Friday falls on 14 April and Easter Monday falls on 17 April.
Any queries should be directed to your Human Resources Client Services team in the first instance.
Hello, Could you confirm whether the university is open or closed on the Friday the 23rd ? Thanks
Hi Maria, we apologise for the confusion. The 23rd is a normal working day and the university will be closed from the 24th. This notice has been updated to reflect this.
Please note this is very confusing. The statement says ” the University will be closed from Friday 23 December and will re-open on …”
When we read this – it reads we are closed from 23rd that is including the 23rd. I asked many of my colleagues and they read it the same.
The VC has made announcements in the past about additional days and we can only believe that coming from this official comms that the 23rd is not a working day
I have since checked with HR who confirmed that the 23rd is normal working day – should it not say University is closed from the 24th?
I am afraid that we are not the only people confused with this message.
I apologise Neta, I did not see your comment before I posted mine, but I agree with you, it is a confusing statement that has caused much debate within our department
Hi Neta, we apologise for the confusion. You are correct, the 23rd is a normal working day and the university will be closed from the 24th.
