Domestic violence: Could you tell if a colleague needed help?

whiteribbon_feature

Domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, socioeconomic status, or cultural background. As an accredited White Ribbon Workplace since 2013, Macquarie has taken a stand to raise awareness of domestic violence end encourage positive action to prevent it.

We want to be a workplace where people feel comfortable raising their domestic violence concerns in a safe and supportive environment, and be confident that they will receive the help they need.

You can make a real difference by being an active bystander, and that means knowing the “3 Rs”:

  • Recognise: Know the signs of domestic violence.
  • Respond: Know how to respond if someone shares their personal story of domestic violence with you.
  • Refer: Know where to refer the person to for professional domestic violence support.

At Macquarie we have a range of measures to support members of our staff community who are affected by domestic violence, including:

  • Access to personal leave and flexible working arrangements for domestic violence related reasons.
  • Professional counselling support through the Employee Assistance Program.
  • Assistance with risk assessment and safety planning.
