School of Engineering to be established

A School of Engineering within the Faculty of Science and Engineering has been approved and will be established in early 2017, expanding on the current successful department. The change will enable the Faculty to increase its strategic focus and support for the development and expansion of research and teaching endeavours within engineering.

The University has already invested significant strategic funds into the enhancement of the engineering offering, and recent commitments include approval of significant new building works over the next five years.

The School will be led by two roles – the Dean (who will report to the Executive Dean) and Deputy Dean – in lieu of a single Head of Department role. Structural changes to systems and the official name change will occur after the appointment of the new Dean, expected early next year.
