Following Professor John Simons’ retirement at the end of 2016, Professor Kevin Jameson will become Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) in early January 2017. Professor Jameson will step down as Acting Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics on 2 January, following the appointment of Professor Stephen Brammer as the new Executive Dean.

Prior to joining Macquarie University in 2011, Professor Jameson had extensive experience in industry in Australia, Asia and the UK, including a number of senior leadership roles. Before taking up his current role as Acting Executive Dean in March 2016, he served as Head of the Department of Applied Finance and Actuarial Studies, and Director of the Macquarie University Applied Finance Centre.

“Professor John Simons has made an outstanding contribution to Macquarie, both as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and he will be missed by all of us on campus. Under the interim leadership of Professor Jameson, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) portfolio will continue its excellent work and contribute to the ongoing ascent of Macquarie as a world-class university,” said Vice-Chancellor Professor S Bruce Dowton.

The formal search for a permanent Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) will commence shortly, with the expectation that the chosen candidate will be in post by the middle of 2017.
