It’s time to prioritise you: Wellbeing Week is coming

In an increasingly busy, 24/7 kind of world, most of us would admit that we don’t always make enough time to focus on our personal wellbeing.

Wellbeing Week, 8-16 September, is your chance to change that and start putting yourself first.

Part of the University’s continuing commitment to supporting staff, Wellbeing Week will feature a range of opportunities for you to focus on and learn more about ways to improve your health and wellbeing.

Highlights of the week include:

  • The Wellbeing Week launch event, coinciding with R U OK Day on 8 September.
  • MQ Health Day, launching the University’s new approach to healthcare.
  • Lunchtime information sessions and workshops on topics including:
    • Resilience in the workplace and through times of change
    • Impacts of anxiety and depression in the workplace
    • The dangers of sitting and how to build activity into your day
    • Macquarie’s free Employee Assistance Program, with new  provider Davidson Trahaire Corpsych
    • Healthy diet and meal planning, with new University partner Medibank
    • Financial wellbeing, with UniSuper

There will also be a range of fun activities on offer for you and your colleagues to enjoy throughout the week including free gym sessions, lakeside pilates and drawing classes.

At every Wellbeing Week seminar, workshop or activity you attend, you will be in the running to win a Fitbit or a MeasureUp DEXA body composition scan.

  1. A great initiative! Would also be great if the university would take care of its staff going through endless restructures and ‘disestablishments’ by treating them like people rather numbers in a spreadsheet too 😀
