It’s time to have ‘Your Say’ in the staff survey

What’s working here at Macquarie like for you? You can now have ‘Your Say’ in a university-wide employee survey which opened yesterday.

Results from the survey will identify the University’s strengths as well as areas for improvement.

In personally sponsoring the survey, Vice-Chancellor Professor S Bruce Dowton says he hopes to gain a greater understanding of the Macquarie staff experience and determine what might need to change in order for the University to achieve its ambitious goals.

“Our University: A Framing of Futures demonstrated the immense value of seeking feedback honestly and openly,” Professor Dowton said. “I encourage all staff to set aside some time in their diaries to complete this survey and I really look forward to seeing the results.”

The survey closes on Friday 19 August with the results to be presented to Executive in October and shared with staff in November.

Complete the survey now.

  1. Just to reinforce the demographic questions are not compulsory – you can still complete the survey and leave out these questions at the end. We would still encourage you to have your say.A high response rate from staff will provide a more accurate picture for the University and enable us to affect positive change. Once again just to confirm we cannot identify any responses at an individual level.
Should you have any further concerns please don’t hesitate to contact our project team at yoursay@mq.edu.au (or you can call Wendy Botha on ext 1037)

    1. “affect positive change…” I think it’s more along the lines of “look, we have pretended to have staff consultation, but we’re just going to steamroll ahead with our plans regardless of what the plebs have to say…”

  2. Once again this survey is of concern as it was a few years ago. It asks you to be honest, the questions are quite specific, then at the end it asks you what department you’re from and then what sub-department/team etc. Might as well just sign your name it narrows it down so much, could easily identify a member of staff if you’re not from a large team. Won’t be taking part.

    1. All demographic questions are not compulsory. We ask demographic questions to understand the workforce diversity at the University. This information will be aggregated and will only be used for groups with 10 or more responses. Demographic information is not combined in a way that could identify individuals. The University also does not have access to any raw data – this sits with our survey partner – The Voice Project. Should you have any further concerns please don’t hesitate to contact our project team at yoursay@mq.edu.au ( or you can call Wendy Botha on ext 1037)

    2. Same situation for me. My information would clearly identify me in my team, so it’s hard to answer truthfully out of fear of retaliation or unfavourable consequences for speaking up about issues… I also had to opt out for this reason…
