Herring Road entry redevelopment: community consultation 22 August

Macquarie University is currently undergoing redevelopment in line with the Macquarie University Concept Plan 2009 and Master Plan 2014.

One step of this process is the redevelopment of the ‘Gateway Precinct’ which includes the Herring Road entry to the university. The proposed changes to the Herring Road entry will improve pedestrian and vehicular access and movement within the site.

Macquarie University is currently preparing a Review of Environmental Factors for the proposed public domain works.

The proposed works will include the following:

  • Removal of right hand turn out of University Avenue and onto Herring Road
  • Road realignment and line marking alterations
  • Road grading works, including levelling of University Avenue
  • Provision of street furniture including seating and bins
  • Landscaping works including new tree plantings, planter boxes and new paving
  • Demolition and excavation works, including tree removal

Macquarie University is undertaking community consultation in response to the requirements of Roads and Maritime Services NSW.

  1. Will the proposed works discourage the people that are using University Avenue as a short cut to avoid Epping Road?
