Macquarie helps Sydney celebrate science and technology

The University’s wind tunnel and Human Powered Vehicle Simulator will be on show as part of National Science Week.

Macquarie will be doing its part to inspire Australians about science, technology and innovation, hosting several events for the upcoming Sydney Science Festival – held in conjunction with National Science Week 11-21 August.

Our world-class experts will be in the spotlight, showcasing their work and highlighting the positive impact science and technology has on our day-to-day lives.

Associate Professor Joanne Jamie from the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences has participated in National Science Week for the past nine years and will represent Macquarie at several events throughout the festival.

“It’s important to showcase the amazing science and technology Macquarie is involved with in its teaching, research and outreach,” Joanne says. “I’m very proud Macquarie has such a strong presence at the Sydney Science Festival – it is an amazing event, bringing together so many fascinating aspects of science and technology.”

“My biggest tip is to plan your days so you can see as much as possible and not miss out on opportunities to learn, engage and be amazed by the wonders of science.”
