Social media showcase: Twitter

The Macquarie University Twitter account is a hub for interesting stories coming out of Macquarie. It highlights our research achievements, as well as our academics’ contributions to the media landscape in the form of opinion pieces and commentary.

The page also serves as a means for the University to engage in global conversations. Twitter takeovers from academics and staff for events such as World Cancer Day and National Reconciliation Week allow us to contribute to public conversations on current global issues, and display the diverse perspectives and expertise of the University.

Live tweeting events such as the Big History Anthropocene Conference also allow us to set the agenda on important Macquarie stories, both on a local and global scale.

Staff can get involved by following the Macquarie University Twitter account and tagging @macquarie_uni (or using the hashtag #MyMq) if they tweet content relevant to the broader Macquarie audience.
