The Macquarie University Incubator is a brand-new space for students, researchers, staff, small – medium sized enterprises (SMEs), entrepreneurs and startups who are working on research or ideas that can be commercialised.
Why should staff get involved?
The Incubator is a vibrant space where you can work on your idea alongside other like-minded individuals. Pop in for a coffee to find out what’s going on or to have a friendly chat with the team.
The team runs regular events (speaker events, workshops, Lunch & Learns) targeted at helping people to develop the skills and knowledge needed to be a successful entrepreneur. They also regularly host events like pitching competitions and hackathons which give start-ups the opportunity to polish their business presentation skills, build their networks and compete for funds.
What can the space be used for?
The Incubator houses:
- Co-working space: staff who have an idea for a business or social venture can apply to have ‘permanent’ desk space in the Incubator to develop that idea. These individuals should fill in this online form.
- Events: the event space is bookable by staff who are running events that aim to foster innovation, entrepreneurialism, creativity, and collaboration etc. Fill in this online form to register interest.
- Hot-desking space: for use by staff who have an idea that they want to explore in a disruptive, engaging, innovative community.
