The annual Student Experience Survey is now open

The national 2023 Student Experience Survey (SES) is now open for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students in their first and final years of study. The Social Research Centre is conducting the confidential survey on behalf of the Australian Department of Education.

The SES is a valuable opportunity for students to share their thoughts on their overall experience at Macquarie. The survey covers a wide range of topics, including teaching quality, learning resources, assessments, wellbeing and support services.

The 2023 SES has the potential to represent the voices of 23,708 Macquarie students, making it one of the best ways the University can hear the collective thoughts of its students. Survey outcomes give us the opportunity to listen, respond and do things better for all students.

Professor Rorden Wilkinson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), emphasises the importance of hearing directly from students.

“The SES is an important tool for us to understand how our students are experiencing their time at Macquarie University,” he says. “It helps us make Macquarie a better place to study.

“I encourage academic staff to support this important research by actively letting students know that their voice matters and that we act upon what they tell us.”

The results of the 2023 SES will be publicly available on the QILT and ComparED websites, and national ratings will be included in The Good Universities Guide.

The most recent SES results are available via the 2022 national report.

Please encourage your students to participate in the confidential survey from 25 July to 27 August. Slides are available online to display during class.

As part of the campaign, we have prepared a short video (above) and an infographic highlighting the key insights gathered from the 2022 survey and how we listened to the student voice.

If students have questions about the administration of the SES, they can contact the Social Research Centre on (03) 9236 8500 or via qilt@srcentre.com.au.
