Study seeking participants – Do you find it difficult to fit exercise into your day?

Researchers at Macquarie University invite staff to trial a new workplace initiative involving exercise snacks. Exercise snacks are brief bouts of exercise you can perform during the workday. Recent research suggests small intermittent bursts of movement can improve many aspects of health. 

The study will occur over four weeks and involve education, support, and monitoring of exercise snacks. Participants will attend a short workshop where the exercise snack program will be introduced and individualised for each participant. 

The program will also include videos of exercise snack ideas, online support from a personal trainer, and a Fitbit to monitor daily activity. 

To be eligible, you must:  

  • Have a desk-based role. 
  • Be employed full-time or part-time (minimum three days per week, 0.6 FTE) at Macquarie
  • Work from home on at least one day per week 
  • Currently, spend less than five days per week being physically active for at least 30 minutes each day.  
  • Own a smartphone using IOS or Android systems.  

Participants will go into the draw to win a Fitbit Sense 2 smartwatch.
