TravelRight update – new Travel Policy, Travel Procedure and webpage now live

After extensive consultation across the University community, the new Travel Policy, Travel Procedure and webpage are now live.

Collectively named TravelRight, the new Policy, Procedure and webpage comprise everything you need to know to have a positive booking and travelling experience. TravelRight guides, tools and templates are designed to streamline travel booking activities into an easy-to-follow step-by-step process.  The same core principles that we applied to ProcureRight – simplicity, trust, empowerment, and accountability – apply to TravelRight.

What this means for you
  • Simplicity – new guides and templates will make your booking experience simple and pleasant.
  • Trust and Empowerment – the online booking tool gives you full control over your travel choices with the policy requirements embedded within it.
  • Accountability – we have clearly defined the accountabilities associated with booking and managing travel.
What is changing?
  • One Travel Agency: all University-funded travel must be booked via Corporate Travel Management (CTM), the University-appointed travel agency.
  • Approvals:
    • Domestic and Trans-Tasman – unless the Authorising Officer or Manager / Supervisor expressly withholds approval, pre-travel approval is not required.
    • International – all international travel must be pre-approved.
  • Dual-Purpose Travel
    • If the number of Personal Days is equal to or more than the number of Business Days, or the destination is not directly linked to the Travel for Business purpose, the travel will be deemed Dual-Purpose. Personal leave must be approved prior to booking travel, and 50% of the airfare must be paid by the traveller at the time of booking via CTM to avoid Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT).
