Work now underway to renew our higher education provider registration

Macquarie’s registration as a higher education provider is due for renewal by TEQSA (Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency) in March 2023 and work is well underway to prepare for our submission.

To achieve unconditional registration, the University must provide TEQSA with evidence that we meet the standards in the Higher Education Standards Framework. These set the minimum requirements for all higher education providers to continue to operate and offer courses. While we can accredit our own courses as a ‘self-accrediting provider’, we are expected to have effective internal processes that include rigorous academic scrutiny to ensure that all relevant standards are met.

With the assistance of expert advisors, we are currently working closely with Academic Senate and its Committees, academic and professional staff leaders and other key staff to review the alignment of our policies and practices with the standards.  As we do so, we are identifying opportunities to improve our quality assurance processes to enable us to verify the quality of our academic activities and help build a culture of ongoing improvement and enhancement.

Next steps

As the review progresses, you may be contacted to provide documents or other information to support the preparations for our TEQSA submission and may also have a role to play in helping us to improve our policies, systems and practices.
