iLab to be replaced by AppStream

We are making some exciting changes to upgrade the student application streaming experience at Macquarie University.

The University’s current iLab solution will be phased out effective from Sunday 1 December.

The iLab solution will be replaced by AppStream, an application streaming service which provides staff and students access to existing iLab applications via a browser from anywhere, anytime, on any device.

Why are we changing
Macquarie University is focused on upgrading the application streaming experience that is intuitive – making it simple for student and staff to access and use applications for University work on and off campus.

Why now
Central IT is continually working to improve student technology experiences in line with Macquarie University’s strategic priorities. We are investing in modernising our systems which are both significantly effective and efficient. This change is a continuation of our goals to deliver a unified digital experience across platforms and tools on and off Macquarie University campus.

What’s changing

From Monday 29 July, AppStream will be made available for staff and students to use. The University’s new application streaming service, AppStream will offer a new user interface and much more:

  • Faster and more secure way to access applications using your MQ OneID and password to login to AppStream.
  • Access applications anytime, anywhere and on any device via web browser (Google Chrome is recommended).
  • Easily save and upload your AppStream session files on Google Drive or OneDrive.
