Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) appointed

Professor Taryn Jones has been appointed as Macquarie University’s inaugural Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education).  Taryn joined Macquarie University in 2012 within the Department of Health Professions. She served as Course Director for the Doctor of Physiotherapy and as Associate Dean, Graduate Health Education for the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences before taking the role of Pro-Vice Chancellor (Programs and Pathways) in 2022. As Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), Taryn will work to create an education portfolio that builds on the strength of the existing Learning and Teaching and Programs and Pathways teams.


Chief Information and Digital Officer

Tim Hume has left the University after almost four years as Chief Information and Digital Officer. Tim’s last day in the office was 2 June.

“With strong ambition for digital transformation at scale, Tim systematically led the development of our digital strategy, roadmap and governance,” says Nicole Gower, Vice-President, Professional Services. “His experience and steady hand have propelled the University forward to a point where we are now poised for project implementation. He leaves the University well positioned for this next stage.  Please join me in thanking him for his significant contributions to the University.”

While the search for a permanent replacement is underway, Jonathan Covell, Deputy CIO has been appointed as the Acting CIO. Vanessa Tam, Director, Strategy, Architecture and Assurance, and Hannah Latham, Director, Digital Transformation Delivery, will share the role of Program Lead for Digital Transformation.
