Were you spotted Wearing It Purple?

The Student Connect team hosted a Wear It Purple games night.

The Macquarie community wore their support on their sleeve on 27 August for Wear It Purple Day – a national day to support LGBTIQ+ youth.

With Campus Life donating $50 for every purple-themed meeting submitted by staff, 50c for every live view of the Sport and Recreation Centre’s Wear It Purple dance class and the sale proceeds of rainbow cupcakes, the University was proud to raise more than $2000 for The Pinnacle Foundationan organisation providing educational scholarships, mentoring and opportunities for young LGBTIQ+ Australians.

Macquarie Faculty of Arts student Dylan Barnes is a current Pinnacle scholar and recently spoke of their gratitude for the Foundation’s support.

Campus Life also delivered 300 rainbow cupcakes to our Early Learning Centres, student accommodation, Esc Cafe and the the University’s on-campus clinics, which provided a much-appreciated boost to our essential services staff.

“The cupcakes were a very big hit and the clinics were very grateful,” notes MQ Health Practice Manager, Laura Fulton Senior.
