New arrangements for DVC Engagement and Macquarie International portfolios

Following the imminent departures of Professor David Wilkinson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) and Nicole Brigg, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) from the University, new arrangements have been put in place for DVC Engagement and Macquarie International.

In order to support renewal across the University and establish alignments to best respond to the needs of our students, staff and external stakeholders, the University will not be recruiting a new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Engagement).

Instead, new alignments will bring together teams focused on external engagement and reputation and teams focused on services, some of which may be included in the central service model being developed within the Operating Plan’s Ways of Working area of focus.

The following new alignments are now in place:

  • Government Relations and Philanthropy  to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.
  • Corporate EngagementMQ Incubator and the University’s involvement in Connect MPID to the DVC-R portfolio under the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Innovation). The Vice-Chancellor will work with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Innovation) on the articulation of engagement that is not specific to research.
  • MUIC/ELC to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) portfolio working with the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Programs and Pathways).
  • Future Students (led by Lee-ann Norris), International Recruitment (led by David Harrison), International Admissions (led by Angela Yuan) and MI Marketing and Communications (interim leader Tim Hyde) to the Vice-President People and Services (VPP&S) portfolio under the leadership of Lee-ann Norris.
  • Group Marketing to the VPP&S
  • Global Engagement and Reputation to the Vice-President Strategy, Planning and Performance (VPSPP)  The rankings aspect will have a dotted line to Professor Amanda Barnier, PVC Research Performance.

Within the Office of the DVC-E there is a small team of support staff. The Vice-President People and Services will work with these staff to understand their roles and look to secure positions within the University going forwards.

The Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President People and Services are in discussion with affected teams to support their successful transition.
