Over 350 Macquarie academics, professional staff and students came together to deliver a successful Open Day Online 2021 on Saturday 14 August, showcasing all that Macquarie has to offer across a six-hour live stream, videos and FAQs.

With initial plans for an on-campus experience, the Future Students team and colleagues across the University did exceptionally well in pivoting to a virtual format just weeks ahead of the event, as a result of strict COVID-19 restrictions.

And their efforts paid off, with the team exceeding targets –including a 59 per cent increase in registrations compared to 2020, and a 74 per cent increase in the number of enquiry interactions on the day.

Lee-ann Norris, Executive Director, Future Students said despite some technical difficulties beyond the team’s control on the day, they were pleased to meet their objectives.

“From the attendee feedback through our post-event survey, the majority were pleased with their experience,” Lee-ann says.

“We now have Open Day on Demand where all video, PDF and main stage content can still to be accessed on the site. We have promoted this to all those who registered and continue to promote more widely through our communication channels.

“A sincere thank you to all university staff who supported the delivery of Open Day 2021. This is a whole of university event that is our largest recruitment tactic of the year.”
