Vale Emerita Professor Patricia Frances Ryan

It is with sadness that we acknowledge the sudden passing of Emerita Professor Patricia Frances Ryan earlier this year. A memorial service will be held on campus on Thursday 3 June 2021 at 10.30am to honour Patricia.

Patricia had a long association with Macquarie University. In 1974 she joined the newly formed Business Law discipline at Macquarie to teach the first courses of Urban Law and Environmental Law.

Patricia was appointed Professor of Business Law in February 1989 and then became the Head of School of Economic and Financial Studies from 1997 to 2001. She then continued in the Department of Business until 2003, was an Honorary Adjunct Professor from 2003 to 2011 in the Graduate School of Environment. After a long and distinguished association with Macquarie University, Patricia moved into full retirement in 2011.

Patricia was very involved in many service roles across the University as well as various Societies across NSW. She was also a member of the NTEU and took part in the first Macquarie University enterprise bargaining team and was appointed a life member of the NTEU in 2003.

Patricia passed away suddenly in February 2021. She is survived by her daughter Danielle and her partner John Corbett, stepchildren and grandchildren.
