10 June deadline for Foreign Relations Act requirements

The Australia’s Foreign Relations Act requires Macquarie University to notify the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade by 10 June 2021 of all active written foreign arrangements with foreign entities.

This requirement applies to formal agreements as well as to informal written foreign arrangements that may have been entered into via email correspondence or a message platform.

Macquarie University has prepared a Frequently Asked Questions resource that includes guidance on how to lodge an internal notification of a foreign arrangement via the University’s online form.

If you are the custodian of a written foreign arrangement that commenced prior to 10 March 2021, please declare this arrangement via the online form at your earliest convenience.

All questions regarding how the Act may affect your ways of work can be directed to foreign.relations@mq.edu.au.
