WHS moving to Group Risk

The Workplace Health and Safety team – who rigorously protect the safety of Macquarie staff at work – have recently had a change in their reporting line as part of the streamlining of professional services at the University.

Effective from 10 May, the Manager Workplace Health and Safety will report into the Chief Risk Officer in the Portfolio of Vice-President, Finance and Resources. The change recognises the strong alignment with the enterprise risk framework, strategy and governance.

The team will continue to operate as a discrete Work Health and Safety function, separate from the Risk and Resilience function, and will remain located at 17 Wallys Walk.

Both teams are looking forward to a closer working relationship, says Kylie McKiernan, Chief Risk Officer.

“Under the banner of Group Risk, we’ll be able to share our knowledge across the two teams and make the most of opportunities to ensure all Macquarie staff are safe at work.
