Congratulations to Professor Rahat Munir (main picture), Head of the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance, on being awarded the NSW CPA Australia President’s Award for Excellence – Achievement in Academia.

This prestigious award recognises “a contribution over and above what might reasonably be expected through a voluntary contribution” and is testament to Professor Munir’s significant service to higher education, and the accounting and finance profession.


Stella shortlisting not hard to fathom

Congratulations to MCCALL Honorary Research Fellow Dr Rebecca Giggs who is one of six authors to be shortlisted in the prestigious 2021 Stella Prize. Rebecca’s book Fathoms: the world in the whale blends natural history, philosophy, and science to explore how the lives of whales shed light on the condition of our seas.

The winner will be announced at an online awards event on Thursday 22 April, with the Stella Address being delivered by Amy Thunig, Gomeroi woman and Associate Lecturer in the School of Education.  Register now >>


Another AAUT award for outstanding Macquarie educator

In addition to the University’s three wins at the 2020 Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) awards, Associate Professor Michael Volkov from the Department of Marketing was part of a collaborative team from Deakin University that was awarded an AAUT Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. The team was recognised for creating digital learning resources, within a business school context, to support and motivate students to strengthen their professional literacy competency and employability skills throughout their student journey.


Tanveer takes Macquarie to the world

Congratulations to Tanveer Shaheed, Regional Director (South Asia and Middle East) in Macquarie International, who has been added to the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) Hall of Fame for achieving Senior Fellow status.

“Tanveer has been instrumental in building Macquarie’s excellent international renown in South Asia,” says David Harrison, MI’s Executive Director, International. “He is also highly engaged with the Bangladeshi community in Sydney and very active in community fundraising and local events. We’re really proud to have such an internationally engaged and community-minded individual in our team.”
