Ahhh, coffee. The fuel that keeps Macquarie running through late night grant application sessions and back-to-back meeting days.

Here we meet one of the talented Campus Life baristas that help keep our community happily caffeinated, Jay Yu. You’ll usually find him bringing a smile to customers at the Library Café.

1) In a nutshell, my job is to…
Keep everyone on campus caffeinated. I also look after all Campus Life’s coffee equipment.

2) My definition of success is…
Helping everyone wake up with my coffee!

3) A person at Macquarie that inspires me is…
My boss, Sheila [Novien, Food and Beverage Operations Manager]. She is awesome!

4) The scariest thing I’ve ever done is…
Try not drink milk and coffee for seven days (I normally drink about two litres of milk a days).

5) As a kid, I was…
Very active and very optimistic. I’m still very optimistic.

6) My guilty pleasure is…
Putting only one sugar in a coffee that asked for three sugars…..

7) I’m scared of…
Turning lactose intolerant – I just love my full cream milk.

8) I’m happiest when…
Our customers love my coffee.

9 If I had the day off today, you would find me…
Spending hours trying to take nice photos in some trendy café with my family.

10) To me, the best thing about the Macquarie community is…
We are like a big family.
