Help your child build their social language skills these school holidays

Social skills are essential for communication for people of all ages. These foundations are laid early, with children learning and using social skills largely in play. Children learn to follow the ‘unspoken’ rules of conversation (like turn-taking, eye contact, and facial expressions) to build relationships, work in groups and communicate with peers

If your child (or a child you know) needs help in this area, the MQ Health Speech and Hearing Clinic can help.

The Clinic will be a three-session program in the September/October school holidays to assist school children in Years K-6 with common problem areas of communication.

Topics will include:

  • Greetings and conversation-starters
  • Turn-taking and listening in conversation
  • Having and maintaining a conversation
  • Sharing and identifying feelings
  • Being a good friend

The program is facilitated by experienced speech pathologists and Master of Speech and Language Pathology students, within a small group setting. You don’t need to be an existing client of the Clinic to attend.

Book now for school holiday social language skills sessions

When: Monday 28 September, Wednesday 30 September and Thursday 1 October
Time: 12-1pm
Cost: $112.50 for the three sessions
