The University’s Operating Plan has taken a further step forward today with the announcement of Executive Group Workstream Sponsors, Program Leads and Program Boards for the six Key Areas of Focus set out in the University Operating Plan 2020–2024.

These areas of focus are Students First, Coursework Suite and Delivery, Focused Investment in Research, Our People, Ways of Working, and Digital Transformation.

Each workstream will now undertake eight weeks of work, bringing together their Program Boards to establish high level goals and define the activities each area will deliver in their programs of work. This will also include consideration of areas for further engagement with the University community and review by the Executive Group to refine priorities and identify key contributors from across the University to collaborate in the activities in each workstream.

Commenting on this important step, Professor S. Bruce Dowton, Vice Chancellor says, “Through the initiation of these Program Boards, our strategic development and our day to day work will now be addressed through the lens of the Operating Plan. This sets a clear frame for our planning in the near and mid-term and reflects a collective focus on priority areas across the University that will enable us to realise our shared ambition and commitment for the future”.

Program Leads will work to support Program Boards and Executive Sponsors in the delivery of focussed activities under each key theme, ensuring that clear engagement and delivery plans are in place across all workstreams.

Program Board members will provide direction and oversight of the delivery of workstream activity including defining how each program of work will be delivered and ensuring the right resources, strategies, and delivery models are implemented.

“Over the next eight weeks the Program Boards will develop plans for further engagement with the University community and prioritise significant activities that will support our University in building and securing a sustainable future,” says Jonathan Wylie, Vice President Strategic Planning and Performance.

“This is a considerable undertaking for the University, but one which is focussed on sustainable outcomes and grounded in the cohesive and collaborative approach that is a hallmark of this University.”
