Careers Week 9-13 March – Do your part to help boost student employability

Spread the word to students about Careers Week, which is designed to help students achieve their professional goals.

Careers Week is an opportunity for students to meet employers, find out about available roles and gain career information. Careers Week will be held from 9-13 March, with events for students at all stages of their study program and from all faculties.

Students can register for these events through CareerHub.

Monday, 9 March

12:30pm–2:30pm | Employer Presentation: Google
Google will present on their culture, internships and graduate opportunities for business students. They will also share interviewing tips and give insights into the recruitment process. This event is for MQBS Penultimate and Final Year Students only.
Location: L3, Conference Room D, 18 Wally’s Walk

1:00pm-2:30pm | Start Up Symposium
For students interested in innovation and start-ups, this panel discussion connects emerging ventures with budding entrepreneurs. Meet potential mentors and industry thought leaders. The event is open to students from all backgrounds and experience levels.
Location: The Incubator, 8 Hadenfeld Ave

Tuesday, 10 March

12:00pm-3:00pm | Graduate Careers Fair
The Graduate Careers Fair brings a variety of potential employers to campus giving students the chance to discuss internship and graduate opportunities with organisations that are looking to meet graduates and/or current students.
Location: 12Wally’s Walk & 14 Sir Christopher Ondaatje Ave

12:00pm-1:00pm | Employer Presentation: Cor Cordis – Graduate Careers in Insolvency and Restructuring
The presentation will include information on Cor Cordis and its industry, what advisory, restructuring insolvency and turnaround firms do, what a Cor Cordis graduate does and the graduate recruitment process.

Wednesday, 11 March

12:00pm-1:00pm | Careers in the Community
Students will have the opportunity to speak to employers about rewarding careers in community development, social welfare, and the not-for-profit space and learn where to start. All degrees and years of study are welcome.
Location: L4 M4.01 Library

1:30pm-2:30pm | Tools and Resources for Career Success
An interactive workshop exploring the wide range of online resources available to build your career skills 24/7. The Career and Employment service has tools to build your resume, practice answering interview questions, explore your career options and much more. We will be exploring CareerWISE, CV360, Career Pulse, MyMQ Career Zone and CareerHub.

Thursday, 12 March

11:00am–1:00pm | Media and the Arts Panel
Students can learn about the diverse and exciting roles across media (including digital media), communications, and other ways to use their Arts degree from an experienced panel of professionals.
Location: 1.200 Lecture Theatre, AHH, 16 University Avenue

1:00pm–2:00pm | Your Potential with a Psychology Degree
Find out about a wide range of career opportunities with a three-year psychology degree and how to stand out to potential employers.
Location L4, M4.01, Library

2:00pm–3:00pm | Career Pathways in Law – Law Society of NSW
A workshop with Law Expert, Victoria Graves, Manager at NSW Young Lawyers and Graduates Services, NSW Law Society. We want students to understand what career options are available to them with their Law degree. This event aims to highlight a number of these unique pathways and help students to understand how to approach going after their dreams. Victoria will talk about her own career path and information on going to the bar will also be provided. A valuable workshop for all Law students, from first to final year.

Friday, 13 March

12:00pm-2:00pm | Job Search for International Students
Gain a comprehensive understanding of working rights in Australia for international students, techniques for finding part-time work, and advice on VISAs and the VISA process after graduation from an experienced migration lawyer.
Location: The Incubator, 8 Hadenfeld Ave
