Following the transition to a digital parking system in May this year, staff have been accessing discounted rates using either PAYG or vPermit options successfully. Feedback has been taken on board and we’ll be making a few changes in 2020.
Due to the popularity of East 2 carpark vPermits, extra car spaces will be added to the 2020 Staff Premium vPermit category that will guarantee an unallocated bay in East 2 or East 3, staff-only parking areas. The 2020 Staff Premium vPermits are being pre-sold on two dates (4 and 18 November 2019).
See below and on the website mq.edu.au/parking all the latest information about parking at Macquarie, including how to apply for an East 2 and 3 carparks permit in November.
Please note that although extra spaces have been added, a limited number of vPermits have been allocated for sale in the East 2 and East 3 carparks. We are hoping that everyone wishing to purchase this permit will be successful however the allocation may sell out and some staff may not be able to purchase a vPermit in this category.
Those not wanting to pre-purchase a vPermit for 2020 in the Staff Premium (East 2 and 3 carparks) can apply for a 2020 vPermit on or at any time after 1 January 2020. There is no option to roll-over existing vPermits which means that staff will need to obtain a new vPermit after 31 December 2019 when they return in the new year.
More information
Are there any options for short term parking for staff (i.e. 6 months parking)? and how much would the park rate be?
Hi Na, yes if you salary sacrifice any of the vPermits they can be ended with a few weeks’ notice. Alternatively there are monthly and 90-day vPermits on most carpark zones available as well. We do not have a six-month parking permit as such but as noted here, you can arrange something similar. The park rate is pro-rata for the annual rate. The pre-purchase staff premium vPermts (east 2 and 3 carparks) is salary sacrifice (fortnightly) or one-off credit card payment for the full year.
Questions coming through on parking@mq.edu.au, FYI –
Q: Can I carry over my vPermit or do I need to reapply? A: All vPermits expire on 31 December, all staff need to reapply either via pre-purchase or on or after 1 January as needed.
Q: Will the pre-purchase vPermit cover both East 2 and East 3 or will I need to specify? A: There is only one type of vPermit offered on a limited release pre-sale and it will encompass both East 2 and East 3 carparks. Staff will choose between salary sacrifice and credit card payment types.
Please could you put up a direct phone number on this page and any similar pages so we can contact you with individual queries? I’ve been trying to find a number for you as I have a question, but so far no luck. Thanks.
Hi Ian, you can email parking@mq.edu.au to request a call back – please advise your question in the email and one of the team will be in touch.
Common problem at MQ! You can’t call anyone to solve an issue, which turns a 2 minute quick fix in to an hour-long email exchange. #MacquarieEfficiency!
