AMIS 8 Cloud upgrade – another milestone for Program Beacon

The Program Beacon team has successfully moved AMIS (our student management system) into the Cloud – AMIS 8.

This upgrade marks another very significant milestone in our journey to better support student success.

Gail White the Executive Director Student Experience and Registrar, congratulated the team wholeheartedly: “This AMIS 8 Cloud Upgrade project team has delivered a complex system upgrade and, in the process, demonstrated an exemplary level of determination, tenacity and commitment to excellence,” she says. “The depth and quality of the collaboration among colleagues and with vendors has been central to the success of the project.”

Gail went on to say that, of most importance the upgrade provides the foundation upon which the second year of the project will progressively deliver better service to students and staff.  Across the student lifecycle, the Cloud upgrade will also deliver a robust approach to business continuity and greater security and protection of student and staff personal information.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Kevin Jameson said the upgrade is an important milestone in the Program Beacon journey and a great achievement for the staff involved. They have delivered a very important component of the Student Success Strategic Framework.

“With this upgrade we have delivered a key enabling capability for the delivery of the 2020 curriculum,” he says. “2020 will also provide opportunities for an enhanced student experience as the team works to deliver future ‘releases’ of AMIS. Well done to all involved.”
