Do you have a view on Freedom of Speech at Macquarie?

A series of workshops have been scheduled to obtain feedback from staff and students on this important issue.

The Chair of Academic Senate, Professor Mariella Herberstein and the Vice-Chancellor Professor S Bruce Dowton are joint sponsors of a project to examine the issue of Freedom of Speech, Inquiry and Assembly (Freedom of Speech) at Macquarie. The project is looking at existing measures to protect Freedom of Speech and includes providing feedback on a draft Freedom of Speech Policy which aims to address many of the issues connected with this issue that is confronting the sector.

A workshop for staff to discuss Freedom of Speech on campus and to provide feedback on the draft policy will be held Wednesday 28 August, 12 – 1pm, Room 149, 7 Wally’s Walk.

Any written comments or feedback should be provided via email to chair.senate@mq.edu.au Feedback would be preferred by close of business on Wednesday 28 August 2019 for inclusion in a written report to Academic Senate. Feedback provided after this date will be reported to Academic Senate verbally at their meeting of 3 September 2019.
