St John Ambulance first aid competition on campus

Anyone interested in first aid can participate in or watch the upcoming St John Ambulance first aid competition this Saturday 13 July on campus at 10 Hadenfeld Avenue between 10:00am and 3:30pm. Macquarie University is the host location for the event that will see teams competing in the Granville Invitational 2019 First Aid skills competition.

Emergency first aid scenarios will be tested on live models (complete with realistic make-up to match their emergency) through a series of simulated cases carried out by qualified first aiders working in teams of two. The five areas of simulations to test their skills and efficiency are:

• Medical
• Trauma
• Mass casualty
• Resuscitation
• Mental health

The competition is a learning tool and competitors and audiences will be introduced to new techniques and protocols as they manage scenes of varying difficulty in practice.

Come along on the day for free to support and be part of the audience, or if you’d like to participate contact Isabelle from St John Ambulance on 0403 168 870.
