Incubator judged on world stage

Shortlisted for international recognition, our Incubator building was recently judged alongside 530 other contenders from 57 countries in Amsterdam at the prestigious World Architecture Festival.

This follows two other November nominations: the World Architecture News Awards held in London (received the Highly Commended, Wood in Architecture); and the Australian Master Builders Association.

Although we didn’t bring home a prize from Amsterdam, the Incubator’s trophy cabinet already boasts 13 awards since being officially opened by HRH Prince Andrew Duke of York in 2017. Head of Property at Macquarie University, Mark Broomfield says it really is an honour just to be nominated.

Mark Broomfield said, “For our $7.5M building to now be judged on the world stage is unexpected and although to see the Incubator win would have been terrific, being a finalist was pretty exciting”.

Located at 8 Hadenfeld Road, at Macquarie University in Sydney and designed by Architectus for collaboration and cross-fertilisation between students, staff, start-ups and entrepreneurs, the Incubator is occupied by diverse groups from within and outside the university.
