“It is a special privilege to be awarded an honorary degree by my alma mater, Macquarie University. True to its motto, Macquarie University did gladly teach me. My contributions and service to the law and public life have been inspired and enabled by my teachers,” said Justice Preston.

Also receiving honorary doctorates were Dr Liz Ellis AO, Dr Shekhar Dinanath Narvekar (N Chandra), Professor David J Mabberley AM, Emeritus Professor Ross Street and Dr Peter Moran.

“I feel incredibly proud and humbled about being awarded an honorary doctorate by Macquarie University. Macquarie University is where I completed my BA/LLB, and I look back on that time with great fondness. I am grateful for the opportunities presented to me as a result of the education I received at Macquarie University and I look forward to returning to speak to the students on their graduation day in the future,” said Dr Ellis.
