Deaf Awareness Training – 4 September

With the support of the Cochlear Macquarie Partnership and the Australian Hearing Hub, the Deaf Society is running a two-hour Deaf Awareness Training (DAT) course on 4 September.

After attending the DAT course, you will:
– Understand the differences between deaf, and hard of hearing people
– Learn more about Auslan and sign language
– Learn some communication tactics to use when talking with deaf people
– Be provided with some strategies to ensure that deaf people in your workplace have full and equitable access to all internal and external communications
– Find out how you can develop communication-related skills amongst your staff
– And most importantly of all, you will find you are able to communicate even better with everyone in your workplace, because good communication rules are universal, and do not just apply to deaf people.

Spaces are limited so if you are interested in attending, please contact Nicholas McKay (nic.mckay@mq.edu.au).
