Positive changes have been made to help our staff interact better with our students.
In an effort to improve communication and collaboration, both academic and professional staff can now view students in the Office 365 environment.
In addition, the IT Service Desk can create for you, Group Distribution Lists for the purpose of department notifications, project updates or class messages. The IT Service Desk can manage the recipient of emails from authorised senders and who can respond to the group, along with assisting in bulk uploads.
So, what’s new?
Email – All staff can look up active students in the address book and see their email address (only the student name, faculty and email address will be visible, not the student number).
Distribution Lists – All staff can look up and add students as members (staff cannot create distribution lists but can manage the membership after the IT Service Desk have created the distribution list).
Office 365 groups – All staff can look up and add students to Office 365 / Outlook groups. (Staff can create their own Office 365 groups and manage membership).
It’s important to note that the following access has not changed:
Microsoft Teams – students do not currently have access to Teams.
Skype for Business – students have always been able to Skype staff.
OneDrive and SharePoint Online (team sites) – students have always been able to collaborate on OneDrive and SharePoint.
