The Widening Participation Unit will celebrate 2018 Refugee Week with two fundraising activities to support Macquarie students from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds that are experiencing financial hardship:

• Staff are invited to take part in a 25km fundraising walk (that’s 20 times around the Macquarie campus!) from The Spit to Manly on Friday 22 June. Contact Sonal Singh (sonal.singh@mq.edu.au) in the Widening Participation team if you would like to participate, sponsor a walker, or if your team would like to organise their own walk around campus to raise funds.

• Staff are also invited to take part in a unique cookbook project. The Sweetest Memory will be a cookbook of sweet recipes and reflections of individuals who have experienced journeys of asylum to safety. If you are interested in contributing your recipe, contact Carolina Morison (Carolina.Morison@mq.edu.au). The cookbook will be available for Macquarie staff to purchase once published.
