Resignation of Tim Beresford

The University’s Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (COO/DVC), Mr Tim Beresford, is leaving the University on 15 December after two years of dedicated service. Tim has led a large and complex portfolio spanning many aspects of the University’s operations supporting our key mission of learning, teaching and discovery. He has also had extensive involvement in oversight of several of the University’s controlled entities at both operational and governance levels.

During his time with us, Tim has made a number of significant contributions including building the leadership capability of the COO portfolio highlighted by the CFO and CIO appointments, establishing the University’s Strategic Planning, Analysis and Rankings (SPAR) office, working with Council members and the Vice-Chancellor to oversee a thorough governance review of the University’s controlled entities and working with the CFO and Executive Group on the University’s long-term capital needs.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor S Bruce Dowton, thanked Tim for his hard work, commitment and contributions to the University, and commended him for his achievements and wished him every success in his future plans.

Professor Dowton intends to examine the structure of the portfolio and advise of any changes in the first quarter of next year. In the interim, the reporting lines within the COO portfolio will be covered by other members of the Executive Group.
