Race Towards a Cure with the Clinical Science Society

On Saturday 21 October, the Clinical Science Society invites you to come and learn about the incredible cancer research that is happening right here at Macquarie University. Our mission for the 2017 annual fundraiser is to raise money for the University’s cancer research centres whilst also increasing awareness about cancer and the future of research in a fun and engaging way.

So how will the event work?

On the day, four orienteering courses ranging in difficulty (walk, family, moderate and hard) will be set up so you can help us ‘race towards a cure’. You can sign up individually or as a team to complete these courses with each ticket costing $10.

The courses can be completed for fun, but for our more serious competitors, there will be awards for the fastest individuals and teams on the day. If orienteering is new to you, don’t fret because we will have coaches at the event to help any newcomers!

As well as the orienteering courses on offer, there will be soccer, croquet and frisbee happening right by the lakeside lawn. We will have a BBQ on site as well as a picnic area by the lake with rugs available to borrow.

The research happening at Macquarie University is incredible and innovative, and as such, we want to showcase what scientific endeavours are happening right on campus. On the day, you will be able to drop by the Information Stand to hear about the ground-breaking work our very own researchers are doing to aid the race towards a cure. By purchasing a ticket to the event, you are directly contributing to helping these cancer research centres further their amazing work!
