Women’s Mentoring Program

Macquarie Applied Finance Centre has a fantastic Women’s Mentoring Program with strategic partner NAB. Over six months we pair early career Master of Applied Finance students with senior female leaders from NAB. A great initiative to support our students in their future career development and help them to eventually break the glass ceiling. Applications are open to kick off round five in 2017.


Walanga Muru Welcome Ceremony

On 6 March, Walanga Muru held its first Welcome Ceremony for new and returning students and staff. The ceremony aimed to balance and pay respect to each of the five elements of earth, water, air, fire and spirit. Such ceremonies cleanse the space, welcoming new beginnings, journeys and experiences.


Golden Jubilee Symposium

On 6 March 1967, Professor Peter Mason delivered the very first lecture at Macquarie University, the introduction to the Department of Physics course Structure and Properties of Matter. To mark this significant anniversary, on 6 March 2017, the University held a celebratory symposium in the very same lecture hall, now known as the Mason Theatre. The event celebrated Professor Mason, his founding colleagues, and the student alumni of the very early years at Macquarie.


Harmony Day Panel

In recognition of Harmony Day on 21 March, Macquarie hosted a  panel discussion on the rise of global extremism. The panel was led by three leading Macquarie academics: Dr Julian Droogan and Lise Waldek from the Department of Security Studies and Criminology, and Dr Noah Bassil, Director of Centre for Middle East and North African Studies. The discussion was kicked off with a performance by INK DEPENDENT, winners of the Bankstown Slam Poetry Grand Final.

Student outing to Allianz stadium

On 10 March Macquarie University Sport and the Macquarie University Buddy Program teamed up to organise a trip to Allianz Stadium for our International students to watch Sydney FC take on the Central Coast Mariners.
