Get it while it’s hot

The Student Representative Committee (SRC) and Campus Services have launched a trial initiative to serve up delicious and affordable breakfast options.

Operating out of the Atrium kitchen in the Campus Hub, the Breakfast Bar will run as a two-week trial, with Executive Chef Peter Brewty and his team serving hot breakfast from 8am to 10.30am every weekday until Friday 8 April.

“Breakfast is so important but it’s so often skipped,” says SRC member Kieren Ash. “The SRC have teamed up with Campus Services to help combat this problem by offering an accessible and affordable solution.”

On the menu currently is a crusty bread roll, stuffed with scrambled egg and gourmet trimmings for just three dollars.

“From our experience, students tend to pick coffee over breakfast because they can’t afford both,” said SRC member Gabrielle Hardy. “Now, with our three-dollar brekkie option, students can have both, even on a budget.”

“This is a great opportunity for the team at Campus Services to help support the goals and objectives of the SRC in a meaningful way that will benefit the wider student population,” said Niels Pantenburg, General Manager of Campus Services.

After a successful first week, there are plans to extend the trial and expand the offering. However, for now, it’s only open until this Friday 8 April with the SRC hoping that it will be a hit with students and staff alike.

The SRC are looking forward to launching a number of new initiatives in 2016 that will benefit students and staff.
